Who We Are

SHIKHAR YUVA MANCH (SYM) is professionally managed organization . It was initiated in the year 1997 in a response to address issues related to local governance. The members of the SYM were from a youth group who started working together with an objective for bringing social change. Eventually to give it
a legal status they registered as a society. The members of the society are all young and committed to the cause of empowerment of the marginalized and minorities. Shikhar Yuva Manch (SYM) is a leading non governmental organization which works with grass root people, for grass root people aiming at their all-round development emphasizing on children issues in related to education for all and food security. It is a team of young and dynamic youths who are determined to bring social change through the behavior change of people and to change of prospect. SYM is trying to avail the education facilities to the children who are standing in the last of the queue of the society including disable children. Greetings from the Chief Functionary

BHUPESH VAISHNAV

Chief Functionary, SYM

SHIKHAR YUVAMANCH (SYM) is celebrating its 21st year as I am writing this note for the Annual Report 2017-18. Starting with implementing the first community development through natural resource Management project in Bitkuli Village of Bilaspur District, Chhattisgarh; with Dhananjay Anupam Secretary of the Organization and 2 employees and reaching out to 350 families. SYM has grown to having Implemented 19 projects across 10 District and benefitting around 48,900 people in 2017-18. On behalf of all of us in SYM Bilaspur Chhattisgarh, we send our heartfelt greetings to all partners: Government of India and State Governments, International government departments, Foundations and organizations, Private companies who have contributed through CSR initiatives, individuals; and last but not least, member organizations of the SYM. Through support and collective action, we have been successful in transforming millions of lives across the state. The stories of courage and inspiration of the people impacted are constantly shared verbally and through our digital platforms (website and social media). Education projects and effort of community and the efforts to bring Out-of-School Children back to school, and to prevent in-school children, especially girls, from dropping out of school and securing them equal opportunities.

I am proud to share that more than ————-women are associated with the SYM as a group and individuals start their own enterprises and income-generating activities through micro finance. All these activities contributed towards the UN Sustainable Development Goal no. 5, i.e. “achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls”. It also contributed to improving the lives of the families of these women, translating to more than ……………………….. people. Let me also mention. Lastly, I want to emphasize that SYM is committed to continue the efforts of expansion in both quantity and quality of the five broad areas of development work – education, Child Rights and safety, livelihood & community development, environmental Sustainability, Natural resource Management and renewal Energy– all aligned with the global Sustainable Development Goals. Operationally, all SYM projects are people-centric and build on engagement and ownership of the activities by the people benefited and with an administrative and organizational framework that ensures the highest level of accountability and transparency. We look forward to working together with all stakeholders and partners in many years to come!
